Francisco Rocha has been tabbed as Conference USA Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The graduate student from Portugal is the fifth Blue Raider to earn Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors this spring.
“Francisco has been a rock in our lineup and last week his win over VCU was huge,” said MTSU Head Coach Jimmy Borendame. “Day in and day out, Francisco puts in the work and does all the extra things on and off the court to be great. He is the model college student-athlete.”
Rocha picked up his second ranked singles win of the season. On Sunday, the graduate student from Portugal defeated No. 93 Matisse Bobichon of VCU 7-5, 6-3 on court No. 2. This would be his 10th singles win of the season for Rocha and his eighth on court No. 2. The win helped the No. 28 Blue Raiders defeat No. 30 VCU 6-1 and earn their fourth ranked win of the season.
