AHSAA Week 7 Football Schedule: Top Spots in Region Standings Up for Grabs

While many teams will be hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive this week, some of the top matchups to keep an eye on in Week 7 will have major implications at the top of the region standings.

A game that will have a lot of fans’ attention Friday night is between the top two teams in Class 6A Region 5. Mountain Brook hosts Parker in a game that’s expected to decide the region title. The Spartans made a run to the Super 7 last season but did not win the region title after a 29-28 loss to Gardendale in the regular season. Parker is looking for its first region title since 2014, a year that stands as the program’s lone region title in the last three decades.

Ramsay travels to John Carroll as the Rams can move within one win of clinching the region title. If the Cavaliers can pull off an upset, it sets up a wild finish at the top of 5A Region 5 between those two teams and Pleasant Grove.

The Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week will feature a big 2A Region 6 battle as Southeastern travels to Locust Fork. The two teams are the final two teams without a region loss. Coverage of the game begins Friday night at 6:30 p.m. on My68.

The Thursday Night Lights game will see Pelham travel down to Alexander City to face off with Benjamin Russell in a crucial 6A Region 3 matchup. A region title for either team may already be out of reach but a result this week could go a long way in determining playoff seeding in the region.

Other games to keep an eye on this week include Hewitt-Trussville at Vestavia Hills, Hueytown at McAdory, Montevallo at Bibb County, Lamar County at Sulligent, Thorsby at B.B. Comer and more.
